Pine Court Block 1 is a Senior Staff Quarters of the University of Hong Kong. The building, originally built in the 1980s, underwent a major renovation in 2016 and enhancing sustainability was one of the key objectives.

The building management has been thoroughly transformed to enable green procurement, ongoing commissioning, preventive maintenance focused on sustainable performance, waste management and recycling and public outreach and education. The building services and design have also been modified to enhance the environmental performance and public health.

Detailed energy and water sub-metering and monitoring, rainwater recycling, photovoltaic panels, conversion of the whole roof area into a green roof is some of the features that make this project one of the best examples of sustainable residential existing buildings in Hong Kong.
