BEAM Plus provides building users with a single performance label that demonstrates the overall quality of the building, regardless of whether it is new, refurbished or in use. By providing developers with a list of recognised best practices, BEAM Plus certification is a proven path for creating safer, healthier, more comfortable, more functional and more energy-efficient buildings.
Since its launch in 2010,
BEAM Plus Neighbourhood adopts a more holistic approach to assessing sustainability performance at the early or inception stage of a development project. It helps lay down a broader framework of urban sustainability for a smoother implementation of the principles in the subsequent development stages. The assessment concerns the design of space between buildings and places an emphasis on socio-economic elements of a development.
BEAM Plus New Buildings covers the demolition, planning, design, construction and commissioning of a new building project. It can also be applied to major renovations, alterations and additions.
BEAM Plus Existing Buildings measures actual performance of the building, covering its management, operation and maintenance. The assessment evaluates the building performance in energy efficiency and green management policies, etc. to ensure buildings operating in a sustainable manner.
BEAM Plus Interiors covers the design and construction of fit-out, renovation and refurbishment works in occupied spaces. The assessment emphasises energy use, sourcing of environmental-friendly building materials and indoor environmental quality, with a view to creating green spaces for the well-being of occupants.
