  • Non-CFC&HCFC based refrigerants were selected in refrigeration system.

Energy Use

  • Overall annual energy saving of 13.47% is achieved for residential development with adopting :
    - High performance VRF and split type air-conditioning units
    - Highly efficient lighting systems resulting in lower lighting power density (LPD) values in common areas (e.g. corridor, lift lobby and staircase) than the maximum allowable values by BEC 2012
    - Highly efficient lift motor with lower rated power than the maximum electrical power allowed by BEC 2012.
  • 96.6% of all applicable home appliances and equipment are certified energy efficient products under EMSD MEELs and VEELs.

Water Use

  • Over 30% of annual fresh water saving achieved through adopting water efficient devices.
  • Over 50% of annual effluent discharge volumes is reduced through adopting water efficient flushing devices.

Indoor Environmental Quality

  • Air quality measurements were conducted for the whole building to demonstrate compliance with Good Class IAQ Objectives for various air pollutants.
  • 98.45% of normally occupied spaces (i.e. bedrooms and living rooms) is adequately lit with an average daylight factor of 2%.
  • High-grade amenities enhance building quality, operation and maintenance.

Mount Nicholson is located at 8 Mount Nicholson Road, which consists of 2 nos. residential towers with the basement carpark with utilities floor, 19 nos. residential villas and the clubhouse recreational facilities. The towers and the basement carpark are sitting at the south side of the site with the hillside at the back. The houses were arranged along the driveway along with the site profile.

In order to enhance health and well-being of building users, the applicant used low-VOC building materials for permanent interior finishes and furniture. Also, IAQ “Good Class” criteria under EPD’s IAQ Guidance Notes was compiled in residential area and clubhouse to enhance human health in indoor areas.

Electric vehicle (EV) charger is installed for each carparking space of the development to support wider adoption of EVs in Hong Kong that could achieve energy efficient, zero roadside emissions and lower overall CO2 emissions.
